The varsity lacrosse team completed the 2026 season with an 11–6 overall record and a 2–1 mark in Division II-AA West district play, securing a region runner-up finish. Under the leadership of Coach Cummings, the Owls once again demonstrated consistency, resilience, and depth throughout a competitive schedule.
MUS opened the season strong with two dominant wins, defeating CBHS 12–2 on the road and Baylor 12–4 at home. After a mid-season three-game skid, the Owls responded with a strong finish, winning eight of their final ten contests.
That late-season surge included key victories over ECS, Briarcrest (twice, including the Memphis Cup), Nolensville, Ensworth, Houston, CBHS (season sweep), and Chaminade (MO), showcasing the team's ability to elevate its play down the stretch.
In the TSSAA Division II-AA state tournament quarterfinals, MUS delivered a commanding 21–8 victory over Father Ryan to advance in postseason play.
Following the season, nine Owls earned Division II-AA All-Region honors: seniors William Fruechtenicht IV, Dallas Keras, and Sanford Owen; junior Joel Hobson IV; sophomores James Hanlon, Thomas Levy, Caleb Loudenbeck, and Robb McDonald; and freshman Wallace Bradshaw.
The Owls also placed five players on the Division II-AA All-State team, with Keras, Fruechtenicht IV, Hobson IV, Levy, and Loudenbeck earning recognition.
In addition, four Owls earned statewide honors from USA Lacrosse. Hobson IV was named a USA Lacrosse All-American, Fruechtenicht IV and Keras were named to the All-Academic Team, and Sanford Owen received the prestigious Bob Scott Award, which honors a player who exemplifies leadership, sportsmanship, dedication, and service to the game.
In March, William Fruechtenicht IV signed to continue his lacrosse career at Rhodes College, extending his impact on the program to the collegiate level.
The 2026 season reflected a program built on toughness, unity, and growth — one that responded to adversity, finished strong, and continued to raise the standard of MUS lacrosse.
