The varsity lacrosse Owls opened postseason play yesterday with a dominant 21-8 victory over Father Ryan in the Quarterfinals of the TSSAA DII-AA Lacrosse Playoffs, earning a spot in the semifinals.
MUS featured a balanced and explosive offensive performance, led by senior Dallas Keras, who finished with a game-high seven points on six goals and one assist. Senior Feild Owen added six points of his own with three goals and three assists, while senior Sanford Owen contributed two goals and four assists.
Sophomore James Hanlon recorded four points (2 goals, 2 assists), and freshman Hudson Rhodes added three points (2 goals, 1 assist). Sophomore Bruce Stockburger tallied a goal and two assists, while sophomores Caleb Loudenbeck and Robb McDonald each recorded a goal and an assist. Additional goals came from junior Henry Cannon, senior Will Fortas, and sophomore Hudson Mashburn Jr., with senior William Fruechtenicht adding an assist.
At the faceoff X, junior Dhilan Madasu controlled possession with 14 faceoff wins to go along with eight groundballs, while sophomore Thomas Levy added four groundballs in the effort.
In goal, sophomore Reid Boatright made his first career playoff start for the Owls and recorded five saves to earn the win.
The Owls will now travel to Chattanooga for a semifinal matchup and a rematch with McCallie.
