The varsity lacrosse Owls improved to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in region play with a hard-fought 14-12 victory over Briarcrest at home yesterday, securing the Memphis Cup for the second consecutive season.
Senior Sanford Owen led the offensive charge with seven points, recording four goals and three assists. Senior William Fruechtenicht delivered a standout performance with six goals, while senior Dallas Keras added a hat-trick to bolster the Owls' attack. Sophomore James Hanlon also found the back of the net to round out the scoring.
MUS continued to share the ball effectively throughout the contest, with senior Will Fortas, junior Cannon Sherman, and freshman Wallace Bradshaw each recording an assist.
In a competitive back-and-forth matchup, the Owls maintained composure down the stretch to secure the key region victory and keep their unbeaten mark in league play intact.
With the win, MUS not only extends its strong start in region competition but also brings home the Memphis Cup for the second straight year.
