During the opening weeks of the 2025 season, the Owls faced a demanding schedule, competing in three of their biggest meets of the year: Saturday Light Fever in Hendersonville, the Twilight Classic at Mike Rose, and The Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama. Senior
Porter Spiceland led the way for MUS, capturing first place individually while helping guide the Owls to runner-up finishes in both the MYA HS Championship and the TSSAA Division II-AA West Region Championship.
At the TSSAA State Championship at Shelby Farms, Spiceland turned in a time of 15:44.34 (PR) to place ninth overall in a highly competitive field. His performance marked the fastest state time by an MUS runner since 2006, when the TSSAA transitioned from the 3-mile format to the 5K distance. The Owls finished seventh overall at the state meet, continuing the program's tradition of competing among the top teams in the state.
Postseason honors reflected a standout year for the Owls. Spiceland earned First Team All-State and All-Senior Team honors, while
Noah Hinote was named Third Team All-State and to the All-Freshman Team.
Kade McCracken earned All-Sophomore Team honors, with
Will Hagerman and
Ethan Vines also earning All-Freshman Team recognition. Hinote and Spiceland were also named All-Metro selections, and Spiceland was presented with the 2025 Russ Billings Award.
