The cross country team competed, last night, at the HOKA Frank Horton Night Classic, racing in the elite Varsity Boys Gold 5K under the lights at Shelby Farms. Against a loaded 30-team field featuring several state-ranked programs, the Owls placed 23rd overall with a total time of 1:29:15 and an average of 17:51 per runner.
Senior Porter Spiceland once again led MUS, finishing 36th overall at 16:12.0, setting a season-best mark. Freshman Will Hagerman continued his breakout campaign, clocking at 17:10.0 for second on the team. Freshman James Byrd (18:26.9), freshman Hudson Bobo (18:43.0), and junior Coleman Russell (18:44.0) rounded out the scoring five for MUS.
The Owls showed steady improvement across the lineup, closing their top-five split at just 2:32, and gained valuable large-meet experience in a highly competitive atmosphere.
