The cross country team competed on Saturday, September 27, at the Twilight at PR'ville Invitational in Huntsville, Alabama, racing under the lights at John Hunt Running Park against top programs from across the South. The Owls placed 18th out of 30 teams, showing depth and promise in a large, competitive field.
Senior Porter Spiceland led the way with a standout performance at 16:13.75, breaking into the top 50 overall. Freshman Noah Hinote followed at 16:38.69, while fellow freshman Will Hagerman continued his strong season at 17:01.20. Senior Carter Wildrick (17:18.38) and freshman Ethan Vines (17:32.36) rounded out the scoring five for MUS.
Freshmen Zach Wildrick (18:12.56) and James Byrd (18:13.26), along with junior Coleman Russell (18:21.71), provided critical depth. Junior Will Brezina (18:55.11) and sophomore Kade McCracken (19:54.70) completed the 10-man varsity lineup.
With veterans like Spiceland and Wildrick setting the tone and a talented freshman group stepping up, MUS gained valuable big-race experience to build on for the remainder of the season.
Great Job, Team!
