Owls Fly to a Runner-Up Finish at Region Championship

The cross country team capped off another strong meet with a runner-up finish at the 2025 MYA HS Varsity Champs/Regions, held this afternoon at Shelby Farms. Competing against 11 area teams, the Owls posted a team score of 37 points, finishing just behind CBHS (22) and well ahead of third-place Houston (96).

Senior Porter Spiceland led the way for the Owls, capturing 1st place overall at 15:50, marking a new PR. Freshman Noah Hinote joined him near the top of the leaderboard, finishing 5th overall at 16:59. Freshman Will Hagerman (8th, 17:08) and sophomore Kade McCracken (10th, 17:16) added top-10 performances, while freshman Ethan Vines (13th, 17:49) sealed the team's strong scoring pack.

Also competing for MUS were senior Carter Wildrick (14th, 17:52) and freshman James Byrd (20th, 18:28), both turning in solid efforts to round out the varsity lineup.

The Owls' impressive showing highlighted their consistency and depth, setting the stage for a strong finish as they head toward postseason competition.
