Under the guidance of Coach Bennett '14 in his second season at the helm, the Owls continued the program's postseason tradition by advancing to the TSSAA Division II-AA State Tournament for the fifth consecutive season.
Facing a demanding schedule that included many of the region's top programs, MUS continued to improve throughout the spring and put together a seven-win stretch in 10 games during the first half of the season. The Owls earned key victories over Gallatin, Routt Catholic (IL), Collierville, Greater Praise Christian Academy, FACS, and region rival CBHS.Â
One of the highlights of the season came in the 100th meeting between MUS and CBHS, as the Owls completed a regular-season sweep of the Purple Wave. In the first matchup, senior Henry Moak struck out 10 batters over 6.1 innings to lead MUS to a 5-4 victory at home. The following day, junior Doug Suddarth delivered 7.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts as the Owls secured a 1-0 road win to complete the sweep.
MUS also competed against a challenging slate that featured Briarcrest, Houston, Lausanne, and St. George's, gaining valuable experience against playoff-caliber opponents throughout the season.
Following the year, several Owls earned postseason recognition for their performances on the field. Seniors Reid McKnett, Henry Moak, Carter Sayle, and juniors Foster Flaherty, Matthew Ray, and Doug Suddarth were named to the Commercial Appeal All-Metro Team and the DII-AA West All-Region Team, highlighting a talented core that helped drive the team's success throughout the spring. McKnett was also selected to the TBCA All-State Team.
The 2026 campaign highlighted the team's resilience, growth, and competitiveness, while continuing the tradition of success that has become a hallmark of MUS baseball.
