The varsity baseball Owls (12-18) closed out the regular season in dominant fashion last night, defeating Munford, 6-0, behind a complete-game shutout from junior Henry Maxwell.
Maxwell was outstanding on the mound, holding Munford scoreless over seven innings while allowing just a handful of hits and keeping the Cougars off balance throughout the night.
The Owls struck first in the opening inning when senior Reid McKnett drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. MUS broke the game open in the third, scoring four runs on key hits from McKnett and junior Doug Suddarth, followed by a two-run home run from junior Matthew Ray.
MUS totaled 11 hits in the victory, led by Suddarth's 3-for-4 performance at the plate. McKnett and Ray each drove in two runs, whilejunior Foster Flaherty added a multi-hit effort.
Defensively, the Owls were sharp, turning two double plays and committing no errors, with senior Gray Nevels leading the way in the field.
With the win, the Owls cap off the regular season on a strong note and will now turn their focus to the region tournament at Briarcrest.
