Owls Fall in High-Scoring Battle at ECS

The varsity baseball Owls (11-18) came up just short in a back-and-forth contest last night, falling to ECS, 14-12.

The Owls jumped out to an early lead, scoring in each of the first three innings. Senior Reid McKnett drove in the game's first run with a double in the opening frame, while sophomore Hudson Jacks, senior Carter Sayle, and McKnett each added RBIs in the second to build a 5-0 advantage.

MUS continued its offensive surge in the third, plating five runs on five hits to extend the lead to 10-5. Junior Foster Flaherty delivered the biggest blow of the inning with a three-run home run to right field.

ECS battled back throughout the game and delivered the decisive moment in the sixth inning, using a three-run home run to take the lead for good in the high-scoring affair.

The Owls finished with 12 hits, highlighted by junior Doug Suddarth's 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Flaherty added two hits and a team-high three RBIs, while the Owls also showed patience with nine walks and aggressiveness on the bases with six stolen bases.

The Owls will look to bounce back as they travel to Munford tonight for their regular season finale.
