Owls Fall to Briarcrest in Region Matchup

The varsity baseball Owls (8-12) dropped a 4-0 decision to region opponent Briarcrest on Monday.

Senior Henry Moak turned in a strong performance on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings. The left-hander allowed five hits and four runs while walking two.

After a scoreless first four innings, Briarcrest broke through in the fifth, scoring four runs to take control of the game.

Offensively, the Owls were limited to three hits on the day, with seniors Reid McKnett, Carter Sayle, and Gray Nevels each recording one. Defensively, Nevels also picked a runner off at first base.

Briarcrest's starter earned the win, holding MUS scoreless over five innings while striking out 10. The Saints also played clean defense, turning a double play and committing no errors.

The Owls will look to bounce back this evening as they travel to Briarcrest for Game 2 of the series.
