The varsity soccer Owls (5-7-2) battled to a 1-1 draw against Lakeland Prep on Senior Night yesterday in a historic matchup, as it marked the first time the varsity program has faced Lakeland Prep.
MUS struck first late in the opening half, as junior Rex Levy found the back of the net to give the Owls a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
At the break, the program honored 12 seniors for their dedication and contributions, recognizing a group that has played a key role in the team's success.
The Owls' back line set the tone all night, with seniors Finn Church, Reid LeMay, Daxton Saunders, Will Stinson, and Henry Thompson delivering a composed and disciplined performance to limit Lakeland Prep's opportunities. In goal, freshman Butler Wallis protected the net and preserved the halftime lead.
In the second half, MUS continued to apply pressure in the attacking third. Sophomore Earl Houston III, senior Nicholas Lee, and senior Andy Yambrek helped drive the offense forward, creating chances and keeping Lakeland Prep on its heels.
Lakeland Prep was able to find an equalizer in the second half, resulting in the 1-1 final.
The Owls will close out the regular season on Tuesday, May 5, as they travel to Walnut Grove to take on region foe CBHS.
