The varsity soccer Owls improved to 3-3-1 on this young season as sophomore
Earl Houston III scored a second-half goal, and the Owl defense did the rest, holding ECS scoreless for the 1-0 home win last night.
The Eagles had several good scoring opportunities in the first half, but the MUS defense held, and freshman keeper
Butler Wallis made some excellent saves to keep the visitors scoreless. The game went to the half at 0-0.
But in the second half, the Owl offense got untracked and put pressure on the ECS keeper for much of the final 40 minutes, ultimately breaking through as Houston pounded home a rebound in the 45th minute to get the hosts the 1-0 lead.
MUS had several other good opportunities the rest of the way to increase the lead as seniors
George Calzada,
Finn Church,
Nicholas Lee,
Reid LeMay, and
Andy Yambrek; junior
Sebastian Oh; and Houston all had good attempts to score but just could not find the back of the net.
ECS did not have any very promising opportunities to tie the score in the second half, and the Owls held on for the win, extending their unbeaten streak to 6 games (5 wins, 1 tie) over the Eagles.
