The varsity baseball Owls (11-16) earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Cullman on Saturday behind a dominant performance on the mound.
Junior Henry Maxwell delivered a complete-game effort, allowing just four hits and one unearned run over seven innings while striking out three to lead the Owls to victory.
MUS got on the board early in the bottom of the first when junior Foster Flaherty drove in the game's only runs with a two-run single. That proved to be enough offense in a tightly contested matchup.
Flaherty finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while senior Reid McKnett, senior Carter Sayle, and junior Matthew Ray each added a hit for the Owls.
The Owls' pitching and defense held firm the rest of the way to secure the win.
The team will look to keep the momentum going as they return to action Tuesday against Arlington.
