The varsity baseball Owls (10-14) celebrated Senior Night in dramatic fashion on Monday, earning a 7-6 walk-off victory over White Station at D. Eugene Thorn Field.
With the game tied at six in the bottom of the seventh, freshman Walker Brown delivered the decisive moment, coming through with a pinch-hit walk-off RBI single to secure the win for the Owls.
White Station struck first in the opening inning, but MUS answered quickly. Junior Doug Suddarth doubled to drive in a run, and junior Matthew Ray added a sacrifice fly to give the Owls an early 2-1 lead. Senior Carter Sayle extended the advantage in the second with an RBI double.
The Spartans responded in the third inning, scoring five runs to take a 6-3 lead. The Owls continued to battle and set the stage for a thrilling finish in the seventh.
In the final frame, senior Henry Moak sparked the rally with an RBI double, followed by a sacrifice fly from sophomore Haynes Kiser to tie the game. Moments later, Brown delivered the walk-off hit to complete the comeback.
On the mound, freshman Johnston Moak earned the win with a dominant relief outing, tossing three hitless innings while allowing no runs and striking out three. Suddarth got the start, recording four strikeouts over four innings.
Offensively, the Owls collected nine hits, with Suddarth, Moak, and Sayle each recording two. Moak led the team with two RBIs on the night.
The Owls will look to carry the momentum forward as they travel to Oxford tonight.
