The varsity baseball Owls (8-9) earned a 1-0 extra-inning victory over CBHS on Tuesday night, riding a dominant combined shutout performance on the mound.
In a tightly contested pitchers' duel, junior Doug Suddarth set the tone with a strong start, tossing 7.2 scoreless innings while allowing five hits and striking out six to earn the win. Junior Foster Flaherty closed the game in relief, recording the final out and securing the save.
After seven scoreless innings, the Owls broke through in the top of the eighth. Flaherty delivered the decisive moment with an RBI single to bring home the game's only run.
Offensively, senior Reid McKnett and freshman Walker Brown each collected two hits to lead the Owls, while Flaherty drove in the lone run of the game. Defensively, MUS was flawless, committing no errors, with senior Gray Nevels leading the way with seven chances in the field.
The Owls will return to action on Thursday with a road matchup against St. George's at 6:00 P.M.
