The Owls (1-3) dropped a 10-3 decision to Conway (AR) on Friday afternoon at D. Eugene Thorn Field.
Conway scored twice in the opening inning before adding to its lead in the fifth inning. Despite the result, the Owls produced a solid offensive effort, collecting nine hits in the contest.
Junior Doug Suddarth, junior Matthew Ray, and senior Reid McKnett each recorded two hits to pace the MUS lineup. The trio also accounted for all three Owls RBI's on the afternoon as MUS continued to generate opportunities at the plate.
Ray started on the mound for the Owls, allowing two runs (one earned) over three innings while striking out two. MUS pitchers worked to keep the game within reach throughout the middle innings.
The Owls will travel to Orange Beach, Alabama, to compete in the Gulf Coast Classic, departing tomorrow ahead of their tournament opener Monday against University School of Jackson.
