The varsity baseball Owls (6-9) scored four runs in the seventh inning to secure a 7-1 victory over the FACS Crusaders on Saturday. Sophomore Hudson Jacks singled, driving in two runs, while senior Gray Nevels also singled, scoring two more.
The Owls opened the scoring in the first inning when senior Reid McKnett hit a solo home run to left field, marking his second straight game with a homer. FACS answered in the bottom of the second with a solo homer to tie the game at 1-1.
The Owls reclaimed the lead in the fifth inning, taking advantage of two Crusader errors to push the score to 3-1.
Junior Henry Maxwell earned the win on the mound, allowing just three hits and one run over six innings while striking out four. Junior Foster Flaherty contributed a scoreless inning in relief.
Offensively, McKnett, Jacks, and Nevels each drove in two runs. Jacks and senior Carter Sayle each collected two hits, and the Owls were flawless in the field, turning one double play and committing no errors. Junior James Loeffler had the most chances defensively with four.
The Owls return home to host region opponent CBHS on Monday at 7:00 P.M.
