The Owls finished the Gulf Coast Classic on a high note, powering past Gallatin 7-1 on Wednesday behind dominant performances from senior Carter Sayle and sophomore William Frazee.
Sayle hit two home runs and drove in three, homering in both the first and fourth innings to lead the MUS offense.
The Owls opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run from Sayle. MUS then exploded for six runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Sayle's second home run. Senior Landry Cooper was hit by a pitch, scoring a run, while sophomore Haynes Kiser doubled, driving in three runs.
Senior Reid McKnett added two hits in two at-bats, helping to extend MUS's advantage.
On the mound, Frazee earned his second win of the season, allowing just five hits and one unearned run over 4.1 innings while striking out four. Senior Jay Clark provided strong relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and recording a strikeout.
The Owls will return home to welcome Magnolia Heights on Tuesday, looking to build on the momentum from a strong finish to the Gulf Coast Classic.
