The MUS cross-country team opened the 2025 MYA HS season with an impressive victory at Meet #1 last Saturday at Shelby Farms. The Owls claimed the team title by placing six runners in the top 15, outpacing Lakeland Prep and University High School.
Senior Carter Wildrick set the pace for the Owls with a third-place finish at 17:42, followed closely by freshman Will Hagerman in fourth at 17:46. Sophomore Kade McCracken placed seventh at 18:06, and freshman Zach Wildrick crossed in 10th at 18:32. Freshman James Byrd rounded out the scoring five with a 12th-place effort at 18:51. Fellow freshmen Hudson Bobo (13th, 18:59) and junior Jack Tavalin (15th, 19:05) were close behind, giving MUS a strong pack presence up front.
Depth was also on display as junior Coleman Russell finished 18th (19:21), junior Will Brezina took 20th (19:34), and freshman Ethan Vines came in 25th (19:41). Freshman Fitz Wilson added a 27th-place finish in 20:20.
The Owls' tight one-minute spread from their first through fifth runners underscored their strength as a group, while the emergence of four freshmen among the top six scorers highlighted the team's promising future. Led by senior experience and fueled by young talent, MUS is well-positioned for continued success throughout the MYA series.
Great Job, Team!
