The Owls returned to the lanes yesterday, November 13, facing a talented SBA squad at Billy Hardwick's. Despite several standout individual games and competitive stretches throughout the match, the Owls came up short in a 20-7 loss.
Game 1
The opening game featured several solid performances for MUS, highlighted by senior
Reese Deupree's strong 204 and junior
Jacob Stalls steady 182. Sophomore
Drew Tayloe contributed a 179, while sophomore
Hank Thompson added a reliable 175.
SBA, however, put together a hot start across their lineup — including a 235 and 218 — giving them enough cushion to take the total pins 1,136-1,020 and earned 7 out of the first 8 points.
Game 2
The Owls tightened things up and responded with one of their best team efforts of the afternoon. Stalls led the charge with an impressive 217, while Deupree posted a clutch 205 and senior Jay Clark added a consistent 182.
Drew Tayloe and junior Chase Frazer both followed with a 181 and 169, giving the Owls strong depth throughout the lineup. Despite the improvement, SBA again held the edge in total pins, winning 1,198-1,122, though MUS remained competitive on several individual pairings.
Baker Games
The Baker set was tightly contested, with MUS and SBA splitting the two games.
Baker Game 1: MUS struck early and held strong through the 10th frame, taking the opener 189–178 behind clean frames from Stalls and Deupree.
Baker Game 2: SBA answered back with a sharp finish, edging the Owls 208–190 in the second game to reclaim momentum and close out the match.
