In a rare Monday-night division game, the varsity basketball Owls jumped on rival Christian Brothers and never trailed as they went on to claim the 50-33 road win to improve to 14-6, 1-1 in the division.
The Owls utilized their size advantage effectively and played great defense throughout to stymie the aggressive Purple Wave (14-9, 0-3).Â
After a high-scoring first quarter that saw the visitors take an 18-17 lead, the MUS defense started to lock in and held CBHS scoreless until a late basket with mere seconds remaining before halftime as the Owls took the 28-19 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Owls took care of the ball, got the ball inside, and made their free throws as the Purple Wave faced a double-digit deficit most of the second half.

Ehi Ataga led MUS in scoring as he tallied 20 points on 8 for 12 shooting, and he added 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Fellow senior
Bo Echols chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal as the Owls' front line dominated. MUS held CBHS to just 31.6% shooting (12-38) from the field and outrebounded the Brothers, 31-18, in route to the division win in the rivalry's 125th contest.
