Despite
Kendon Leakes's 16 points and
Bo Echols's 11 points and 9 rebounds, the varsity basketball Owls could not overcome a second-half surge from Brentwood Academy as the Owls fell to the Eagles, 56-47, in the first game of the Grind Session at Briarcrest.
The Owls (6-3) held BA to only 26.7% shooting in the first half, but they could not fully take advantage as the Eagles (7-1) stayed close by going 7 for 7 from the foul line to tie the game at the half at 23.
In the second half, the visitors got some timely baskets on offensive rebounds and limited the possessions by being very deliberate in the fourth quarter, ultimately putting some distance between them and the Owls.
Despite shooting poorly, BA shot 9 more times than the Owls, and those extra possessions helped the Eagles get the win.
MUS wraps up its first-semester part of the schedule today as they take on White Station in Day 2 at the Grind Session. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Briarcrest. The meeting with the Spartans will be the 75
th in the series as the Owls currently hold a 43-31 advantage.
