The varsity football team, in Coach Chubbs' second season as head coach, opened the 2025 campaign in dramatic fashion, earning a 23–17 road victory over Bartlett. On the final play of the game, sophomore quarterback
Price Renovich launched a 37-yard pass into the end zone, where junior wide receiver
Cannon Sherman came down with the game-winning touchdown, sending the Owls' sideline into celebration to start the year 1–0.
MUS carried early momentum into the non-district portion of the schedule, picking up additional wins over Northpoint Christian and Kirby behind strong offensive performances and improved execution on both sides of the ball.
In region play, the Owls battled through a demanding slate against Brentwood Academy, Briarcrest, CBHS, Father Ryan, and Lipscomb Academy. MUS continued to show resilience throughout the season, responding to challenges against some of the state's top programs while gaining valuable experience across a competitive schedule.
The Owls concluded the regular season with a 6–4 record and earned a berth in the TSSAA Division II-AA playoffs, where their season came to a close against MBA.
Following the season, several Owls earned postseason recognition for their performances:
Seniors Gavin Gatere (RB/DB), Boyd Rhodes II (OL), Devin Wells (DL), and junior Dylan Taylor were named to the Daily Memphian All-Metro Team. Rhodes and senior Joshua Wittber (P) also earned Commercial Appeal All-Metro honors, and Rhodes was selected to the roster for the AutoZone All-Star HS Football Game.
Several Owls announced their collegiate commitments to continue their football careers at the next level.
Maddox Giel and Jackson Hood both signed to play at Case Western Reserve University, while Boyd Rhodes II signed with the University of Richmond. Kendon Leakes will continue his career at Hendrix College.
The 2025 campaign featured several standout moments, highlighted by explosive offensive performances, early-season statement wins, and continued growth across the roster as MUS looks ahead to the future.
