Hamilton Eggers, an instructor in History, took over the trapshooting program in 2009 and has built it into a consistently successful spring sport. Under his guidance, the Owls have made state tournament appearances every season (2009-2025). Under the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP), the team competes against public and independent schools in several regular season shoots in preparation for the postseason. The trapshooting program’s goals parallel the mission of the Tennessee SCTP: to teach the importance of safe firearms handling, responsibility, leadership, and teamwork. Eggers is the father of current MUS student Hamilton Eggers ’27.
