Vincent Beck

Vincent Beck, who teaches Geology and Earth Science at MUS, has been head coach of the soccer program since 1997. Under his guidance, the Owls claimed the 2004 state championship and finished state runners-up in 2003. Beck’s soccer program has won regional titles in 1999 and 2010, along with making three state semifinal appearances (2006, 2010, 2018). He was named The Commercial Appeal Coach of the Year in 2004. Beck grew up in Scotland and studied at Old Dominion University, where he was a three-year starter in soccer and two-year captain. He played professional indoor/outdoor soccer for twelve years with teams from Memphis; Wichita, Kansas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a three-time All-Star and served as a player-assistant coach for two years. He played for two years with the Memphis Express in the Professional Development League in the early 2000’s. Earlier in his career, Beck won an Oklahoma state championship in 1991. He is the father of two current MUS students, Ethan ’28 and Ewan ’28.
