In 2024 Chubb became just the third head football coach at MUS since 1959, following the retirement of Bobby Alston (head coach from 1998-2023). Chubb served as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at MUS from 2006-2023, helping lead the Owls to two state championships and four state runner-up finishes with nine region titles. MUS combined for an overall record of 149-53 during Chubb’s 18 years on staff and boasted eight double-digit-win seasons. Chubb coached four defensive Mr. Football winners and six finalists. His defenses compiled 42 shutouts since 2006 and held opponents to fewer than 20 points per game in 15 seasons while breaking 28 school records. Prior to MUS, Chubb coached linebackers and defensive linemen at Rhodes College from 1998-2005 and spent the 1997 season coaching offensive linemen at the University of Evansville. He spent two seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, Wittenberg University, where he had a decorated playing career. He had been named First-Team All-Conference three times and a Division III All-American in 1994 before earning a spot on the Conference All-Decade Team. He is the father of MUS alumnus and current college football player, Braden Chubb ’23.
